Retired Barbadian University lecturer, Trade Unionist, and Administrator, Doctor Beverley Goring, was elected Chairperson of The National Council of Barbadian Associations in the UK at the group’s recent Bi-Annual AGM in Birmingham. Doctor Goring brings a wealth of community work and a teaching career spanning some 40 years, from primary school teaching to university lecturing, at London South Bank. In her first public statement after being elected, Dr Goring asked the community to join the group’s broader remit to support our beautiful island, Barbados, and achieve their goal of serving our communities with dignity, respect, and mindfulness while valuing and celebrating our vibrant culture
Bishop Richard Trotman, the senior Pastor at this Church of God of Prophecy, delivered a powerful sermon entitled “Independence to Interdependent,” which referred to the Bible reading. On completion of the sermon, Sandra King sang, “This so sweet to trust in Jesus. The National Council of Barbadian Associations UK has called for the NHS to waive their fees after Barbadian national Tharel Thompson was stabbed whilst on holiday. The incident occurred at 2:04 am on Sunday February 11 2024 at the Walkabout Bar, Wiston Terrace, Reading, where he was stabbed in the head multiple times.
